Why Electric or Dual Fuel Radiators Are the Best Options for Bathrooms

Are you looking to buy a new radiator for your bathroom but aren't quite sure which is the correct choice for you? If so, you have come to the right place. In this article, we are going to explain why you should be looking for an electric or dual fuel radiator when choosing your next bathroom radiator.

What Are Electric and Dual Fuel Radiators?

I understand that all of you will know what an electric radiator is. It's simply are wall mounted radiators connected to the electricity supply. Usually, this has its own independent socket, which does not look, like the 3-point sockets you are used to, but which ties up to your electricity supply anyway.

However, many people are confused by the term ' dual fuel radiator'. A dual fuel radiator is simply one back can draw its energy from either your central heating or your electricity supply.  It is plumbed into the central heating and it is connected to the electricity supply. You simply press a button to switch between both types of supply.

Why Are Electric Radiators or Dual Fuel Radiators Ideal for Bathrooms?

To understand this, you have to understand that the bathroom is an unusual space in terms of its keeps requirements. Because it has a lot of moisture in the air, it requires more heat than other rooms in the house. If you do not adequately heat (and air, so ventilation is important too) the bathroom, it can develop problems with damp.

The problem is that the bathroom generally requires a heat source for much of the year. The exception may be in the height of summer when we experience heat waves in the mid-20s and higher.

With a traditional central heating radiator, to keep the radiator on all through the year (which is what you need to do in the bathroom on all but the sunniest of days), you have to switch on the entire central heating system. This is problematic because it means having hot pipes pumping through the house even when the house is warm. It also tends to increase your energy bills as you are using more energy than you need.

You only need to use enough energy to heat the bathroom.  Yes, you can switch off each of the other radiators, but not only is this a pain, but it also means that hot water still pumped through the pipes anyway and there is still wasted energy.

Enter wall mounted electric radiators/dual fuel wall mounted radiators:  they offer the perfect solution for heating the bathroom throughout the year. You can keep them independently of every other radiator on the system. With the dual-fuel radiators, you also have the option of switching back to central heating during the winter months. Therefore, these latter type of radiators will both save you money and keep the room hot enough. It's win-win.
